How Heckyl, Sledge, and Keeper Met

Heckyl is currently the most interesting character in Dino (Super) Charge. Because of this, I have been thinking a lot about what his origin story might be. Now I haven't been trying to figure out the relationship between Heckyl and Snide because the show hasn't given me enough information to go on as of yet. Rather, I have been thinking about the relationship between Heckyl and Sledge. As in, what circumstances led to Sledge meeting and capturing Heckyl. So without further ado, here's my fan theory of how Sledge and Heckyl/Snide crossed paths.

We know from the show that Heckyl used to go around destroying planets and whole galaxies. So perhaps Heckyl appeared on Keeper's home planet one day looking to fuck shit up. The beings on Keeper's world tried their best to deal with Heckyl, but they couldn't, so they decided to enlist the help of a renowned bounty hunter. Yes, Keeper and his people hired Sledge to remove the threat of Heckyl/Snide. 

So Sledge came to Keeper's planet and did what he was paid to do: defeat and capture Heckyl. However, while Sledge was on Keeper's home-world, he learned about the powerful Energems. Not being able to resist such incredible power, Sledge then started attacking Keeper's planet himself. In order to protect the Energems, Keeper grabbed them and high-tailed it off of his home-world in his spaceship. Sadly, Sledge was right on Keeper's ass and chased the little creature all the way to Earth. From there, the rest is history.

So there you have it. That is my fan theory of how Heckyl, Sledge, and Keeper all met. Basically, almost everything is Keeper's fault. He invited Sledge to his planet to take care of Heckyl, but didn't run a background check on the guy to make sure he wasn't evil as well. And of course, this all led to the destruction of the dinosaurs. Keeper always makes poor decisions.

Some Life Goals of Mine

Well, 2016 is here. I feel that this year is going to lead to many interesting and fundamental changes in my life. Lately I have been thinking about some of the goals that I want to accomplish before the Grim Reaper pays me a visit.



I thought it would be cool to write a blog post listing out these goals. Then in a few years or so, I'll click back to this post to see if I actually did any of the shit I said I wanted to. I'm going to be depressed as hell if I read this post in five years and I haven't met at least one of these goals. Well, anyway, let's get this list going.

1. Go to Law School



This has been one of my main goals in life since I was in middle school. Learning about the law and legal proceedings has always been fascinating to me. I have worked as a court clerk for over two years now just so I could see first hand how the court system operates. However, I am a bit apprehensive about going. Mostly because of finances. This shit will not be cheap. I'm trying to look at law school as an investment for my future, but right now all I can see is the strain it's going to put on me while I am trying to reach said future.

And yet, every time I hear about another unarmed black person being killed, the resulting rage I feel makes me want to pursue a career in law. I mainly want to be an attorney so that I can help fight against civil and criminal injustice. I want to study the law, change the law, and create law that leads to the betterment of all people. Especially minorities. Black. Lives. Matter.

2. Write a Book. Or Several Books. Just Write Something



I love to write. Well I say I do, but I engage in the craft so sporadically that I don't even think people believe me anymore. Sometimes I don't even believe myself. But I swear I do. I just suck at time management. I have been working on the same 2-3 stories on and off since 2007 and have not finished a single one. Last year, I decided to create a "short story". Usually my story ideas are these long "epics" that, if adapted into a TV show, could be made into 20 seasons. Like Naruto, or the Young and the Restless.

I figured that if I make the story short, I would actually have a shot at finishing it. Ha! I haven't worked on the thing in months. Well, it's time to change that. I want to have my "short story" completed by this year. No more fucking around, let's dew dis!

3. Be a Soap Actor



And now we have reached the more outlandish goals I have for myself. I grew up watching quite a few soap operas thanks to my mother. I love melodrama. I dream of the day that I can be on a soap and act a damn fool on the TV screen 5 days a week. "Yeah I fucked yo bitch, whooped yo ass, stole yo company, and if you continue to cross me, I'll end you." I want to be the badass character that everyone loves to hate. "Yes I'm evil, but there are reasons why. Cry for me!" I have no clue on how I can accomplish this goal, but whatever. Never know what the future holds.

4. Be a Successful YouTuber



So I have been playing this YouTube game since 2011. I am very lucky to have the viewers and subscribers I do have. Still, I can't help wishing I was a bigger YouTuber. Or at least making enough money off of my videos to help pay back my student loans. That's all I really want. I don't need to live off of the shit (although that would be nice too).

5. Be Rich



Not an original goal, but it is one that never goes out of style. I don't care how it happens, just let it happen Lord.

So these are some of my goals. Let's see if I can place a check mark next to at least one of them in 5 years.

Julius Explodes! Bold and the Beautiful Episode Review for 8/7/2015

Last Friday's episode of The Bold and the Beautiful was very entertaining. So entertaining that I'm writing a blog post about it.

It's Maya and Ricky Boy's wedding day! And guess who decided to make an appearance. Why Ricky's sister, Ms. Bridgette Forrester! Bridgette is rarely on this show anymore, so this was indeed a surprise. She even told her brother that this was one family occasion that she was not going to miss...

As soon as she said that, I burst out in laughter. The fuck? Let me get this straight. This bitch was too busy to be in attendance at her niece Aly's wake and funeral, but she has all the time in the world to be at her brother's third wedding? This is the more important event to go to? Bridgette, go on with this foolishness.

One of the best parts of this episode was Bill Spencer apologizing to Maya for telling her private business to the whole world. I loved this scene, not because Bill apologized (I never needed him to do that), but because Maya did not make it easy for Bill to apologize. Ms. Avant was busting Bill's balls the entire time he was asking for forgiveness, and it was great. She eventually accepted the apology, but the fact that she stood strong and called Dollar Bill out on all his bullshit made me like her. I have never really been a fan of Maya. The reason why is because she tends to let people (like Bill) treat her like trash and then she runs away without fighting back. Meanwhile, Bill Spencer is one of my favorite characters on the show. So if I'm giving Maya praise for talking crazy to Bill, you know I loved this scene. No more running for Maya.

Now the ending to this episode took the cake baby. If you are reading this post and are not aware, Maya is transgender. Her parents are very conservative and have not been in her life for a long time. Maya and her parents are now trying to mend fences, and they are present for the wedding. While Maya's mother is beginning to accept who Maya is, her father (Julius) still refuses to let go of his bigotry. During the finale scene of the episode, Julius could not hold his true feelings in anymore, and he pretty much erupted on his wife. Julius hates what his "son" has done to "his" body, and he is disgusted that he has to walk his "son" down the aisle and hand Maya off to a man. The conversation Julius was having with is wife was supposed to be private, but this is a soap opera, so you know that private conversations do not exist here. Maya ended up hearing every vicious thing her father said. She was completely crushed. I loved it. The drama was so damn good. Julius is a bastard, but if he was a great guy and completely accepting of his child, then this shit would be boring. Let him be a bigot, just as long as the show expresses that he is in the wrong.

*Side note: Julius wasn't wrong about Rick already having two ex-wives. Maya will be out the door soon. But she will be receiving some good spousal support checks, so chill.*

I am also surprised that Julius is the ONLY one that has an issue with Maya being transgender. All of the Forresters are cool with this? Really? All of these super rich white people are that progressive? It's great that they are, but I'm not sure if it's that realistic. Oh well, I'm patiently waiting for Monday's episode. August 10, 2015, let's go!

Pick Me, Choose Me, Promote Me!

It's a damn shame that my last blog post was in 2014. I have to do better.

Anway, let's get a little personal for a bit. Without getting too specific with the details, I'll say this: a "lead" position at my job has opened up. For the past three weeks, I have been instructed by my supervisor to fill in and be the interim "lead" of that position. So for three weeks, I have been doing all of the extra work that comes with that position, but without the additional pay. Joy.

Just last week, a job posting for the position was issued out internally for all employees to apply. I have applied for the job. Now you would think that I'd be a shoo-in for the position, but with this place, nothing is for certain. All I can say is that I will be extremely pissed if I do not receive the promotion. I am more than capable of doing this job. The reason I was chosen to be the interim "lead" in the first place is because of how capable I am. Even more important than that, I want to do the job.

Blame the inner geek in me, but I often compare my job to how the 13 Court Guard Squads are set up in the Bleach anime. My current job title is pretty much the equivalent of being a Lieutenant (or Vice-Captain) of one of the 13 Squads. And the highly coveted "lead" position is the equivalent of becoming a Captain. Believe me when I tell you I am ready to become a Captain. I am an expert at Kido, and I have mastered Bankai. Hell, I even shit on Yoruichi with my Flash Step game. However, gaining a "Captain" position at my job is almost as difficult as becoming one in Bleach. Most of the time, you have to wait for one of the previous "Captains" to retire or die, and after that, you have to fight a number of "lieutenants" for the job. Sigh.

So in conclusion, I'm a geek and I really want the promotion. Like I said earlier, I'm going to be furious if I don't end up getting the job. Not furious enough to cuss out my supervisor or burn the building down, mind you. But furious enough to start looking for a new place of employment.

How the MMPR Reboot Can be a Good Thing

2016 promises to give us a Mighty Morphin Power Rangers reboot movie, and I couldn't be happier. Which is funny to me because when I was younger, I wasn't very fond of the idea of reboots or retcons. That's why I never took too kindly to seasons 3 and 4 of Digimon, and why even Power Rangers Ninja Storm irked me a bit when it first came out, due to it having a line of dialogue in the premiere that gave the impression that the previous PR seasons were only comic books.

This MMPR reboot movie doesn't irk me at all though. Mostly because Saban Brands will continue to create new seasons that are connected to the old continuity. However, it is also because this new movie may be an opportunity for us to get a more in-depth look at past PR plots.

The main thing I want to see is the backstory between Rita and Zordon fleshed out. The show never elaborated on the battles these two intergalactic sorcerers had 10,000 years ago. All we know is that Zordon sealed Rita and her minions in a space dumpster, and Rita somehow trapped Zordon in a timewarp. I believe that the old MMPR Fan Club VHS, and the pamphlet that comes with the MMPR Shoutfactory DVDs try to fill in the blanks by informing us that Zordon and Rita's battling went on for 2,000 years. They also note that many planets were destroyed in the process, and that in the end, a simple coin toss decided the victor between the two magic users. Now that's all very interesting and corny, but none of that shit was ever stated in the TV show.

I would love to actually see Rita and her armies duking it out against Zordon and his allies; see how vicious the battle between the two was, and see the end results of said battle with my own two eyes (not just hear it told to me in exposition). And I'd love to see how and when the Command Center was established on Earth. I feel like these scenes are a must for the upcoming film.

I really hope that this movie will be a huge success and that many, many sequel movies will be made. Seeing classic Power Rangers stories like the Evil Green Ranger and Lord Zedd's arrival re-imagined on the big screen would be fucking awesome. I mean, that goes without saying. But imagine if they did a movie based around the Millennium Message plot. I'd love to see what the future time period that Blue Senturion comes from looks like; a future where Lord Zedd and Rita, the Machine Empire, and Divatox rule supreme. Hell, adapting that plot could lead to a version of Countdown to Destruction that many fans always wanted. A version where all the ranger teams come together to fight the United Alliance of Evil.

Oh 2016 MMPR movie, please give me a morphinominal backstory regarding Zordon of Eltar and Empress Rita. And also, please come up with a reason for why Ms. Repulsa doesn't just kill the rangers in their sleep. I'd definitely appreciate it.

Then again, I remember reading somewhere that the movie is suppose to take place within the same continuity as the show. If that is true, then... I don't know what the fuck this movie is going to be about. Hmm...

Minority Opinion Alert: Judd Lynn's Return to Power Rangers

So it's been awhile since my last blog post. My goal was to write a new one at least once a month, but clearly that didn't go as planned. Oh well, let's talk Power Rangers.

More specially, let's talk about a topic that I should have blogged about MONTHS ago when the news of it first came out: Judd Lynn coming back to work on Dino Charge.

When we first heard the news, I did get a few comments from people asking me to make a video on it. Thing is... I really had nothing to say. Nothing good anyway. So Judd Lynn's coming back. Yes, he is a good writer, and he is responsible for some of my favorite seasons. And yeah, I'm sure he'll do a great job whipping Dino Charge into a decent season at the very least. But so what?

When I tell you that I don't care about Dino Charge, I mean it. You know what season I did care about? This 20th/21st anniversary season. So Saban Brands decides to hire a capable writer that has previously worked on PR before and has knowledge about how the show works and its lore. That's great. That's wonderful. WHY THE HELL DIDN'T THEY DO THIS FOR MEGAFORCE!

Why are they working hard to make sure that regular ass Dino Charge is a good season, but dropped the ball completely on Super Mega Flop?! I don't understand this. If there was any season to bring Judd Lynn back for, it was Megaforce. The big anniversary season that is in DESPERATE need of storytelling and character development. The big anniversary season that is one of the worst seasons I have ever seen.

I am beyond disappointed in Super Megaforce. The Gokaiger footage was handed to SB on a silver platter, and yet they completely squandered it. So many potential storylines could have been built off of that footage, but we got nothing. There is literally nothing going on in Super Mega Flop. In every episode the nameless Alien Armada attacks, and the rangers fight them for 20 minutes. Sometimes with powers never seen before on this planet! That's it.

The rangers have Super Mega Mode, but you can forget about getting any answers on where the hell Gosei got such power, or where the hell the 563649278789274 zords in his arsenal came from, or where the hell Gosei comes from, or where the hell these villains come from, or how the hell the Sixth Ranger Key ended up on Orion's dead planet, or what adversity Troy went through, or why the hell T-roy was psychic for two episodes, or why the hell I'm watching a 20th anniversary season where people have no idea what a damn Power Ranger is and have no knowledge of Countdown to Destruction. I just... what?!

Oh, but Judd Lynn will be back for Dino Charge, and that somehow makes up for the fact that the 21st anniversary season is a joke? No! Too little, too late. Super Megaforce is the season that SB should have called Judd Lynn back for. Maybe then the season would have had a name that isn't ridiculous, and we could have had interesting characters, and amazing plots, and callbacks to past seasons that actually make sense!

Look at all this negativity. This is why I didn't make a video when the news first broke. I was sick of being a Negative Nathan about a franchise that, as a whole, I still love very much. The good seasons still outweigh the bad in my book. It's just that we haven't had a good season in a loooong time. And the one season that should have NEVER been bad... turned out to be garbage.

I truly envy the fans that are still excited about SMF and future seasons. Wish I still shared your enthusiasm. When it comes to PR, the only thing I care about at the moment is the MMPR Reboot movie. Please let that be good. Please.

Super Megaforce: Spirit of the Tiger Episode Review

I hate Casey. I despise that character and the season he comes from. I wasn't thrilled that his season was one of the few chosen to receive a tribute episode. I wasn't thrilled that Saban Brands decided to bring Casey back to represent Jungle Fury instead of RJ, the actual fan favorite of that season. And I sure as hell wasn't thrilled that Casey had some lengthy screen time in this tribute episode, compared to Jayden last week, who was almost a "blink and you miss it" cameo.

Surprisingly though I didn't hate this episode. It was... so-so. It's a typical, average episode of Power Rangers that I would expect from Saban Brands. An episode that puts in the bare minimum of effort and does nothing really special. Well OK, maybe to some fans bringing Casey back is special. Fine... but that's not special to me though since I, you know, hate the character. *Shrugs*

The episode had the Megaforce rangers visiting a local zoo and looking at all the different animals held in captivity. At one point, the rangers made their way to the tiger den, and they saw a guy cleaning in there while standing near a tiger. The rangers were amazed that the guy would have the balls to clean so close to a tiger. Now while I agree that it does take some courage to stand anywhere near a freaking tiger, Noah took it too far with one of his comments. He said something similar to, "It's like he and the tiger are connected." Umm, that tiger was lying down minding his damn business. He didn't even pay attention to the skinny white dude moving dirty around in his den. How did they look like they were connected? Ugh, but that's nitpicking, so I'll move on. But hey, the guy cleaning the den was Casey! LOL TIGER BOY!!111!!

Later in the episode, Jake ends up walking with Emma in the park. Naturally they talk about Gia, and Jake tries to probe Emma for information. OK, here's the thing. I am sick to DEATH of scenes like this. I am tired of the writers bringing up Jake's crush and then doing NOTHING with it. It's been over a year now, and Jake has made zero progress with Gia. Why the hell hasn't he asked her out yet? This is TV. Something should have happened or progressed with this "relationship" by now.

Jake asked Emma if he really had a shot with Gia or not. He felt that since Emma is her best friend, she might have some insight on how Gia feels about him. Now if Emma actually had revealed some new information in this scene, then maybe I would have liked it. For instances, if Emma had said something like, "I think Gia does like you. She just has a hard time showing her true feelings to people. You're a good guy, just take a chance and ask her out", then I might be praising this scene like a bunch of PR fans are. But she didn't say shit to Jake. Jake asked her the question and she ignored it. She ignored it because she saw freaking Casey in the park and ran to speak with him. Ugh!

So Emma and no-pussy-getting Jake spoke with Casey for a bit, found out that he's a martial artist, thought that was cool, and then ran off to deal with a monster attack. After the Monster of the Day rendered the rangers' weapons useless, Emma and Jake decided that they should have Casey train them to be better fighters with their hands so that they don't have to depend on their weapons.

Casey agrees to train them, which then leads to him bringing up one of the few concepts from Jungle Fury I liked: the idea that everyone has an animal spirit inside of them. Casey also tells Jake that his spirit is the snake and tells Emma that hers is the phoenix. I loved that. He even had the two rangers sparring each other in the Snake and "Phoenix" techniques. Fucking awesome. And to those few PR fans that disliked that Emma's spirit animal was a phoenix because those animals don't exist... the fuck is wrong with you? This is Power Rangers. If dragons exist in this world, a phoenix can too. Plus, as any Jungle Fury fan will tell you, there was a fighter in that season that had the Phoenix spirit.

The end result of the two minute training that Emma and Jake endured was that they defeated the MoTD and unlocked the Jungle Fury Zords (I think that makes 1 trillion zords in their arsenal now). The five rangers went back to the zoo to thank Casey, but he was gone. And one of the workers there told the teens that no one named Casey worked there. OK, what? This is ridiculous. First Jayden disappearing like Batman on the rangers last week, and now this. Why so mysterious? This is unnecessary. And Casey knew the whole time he was training Jake and Emma that they were rangers, and he waited until the last possible second to tell them he knew... for no reason. Again I ask, why so mysterious? Why the secrecy? You are all rangers, stop playing stupid games.

And another question: why didn't Casey help fight? I've never heard of rangers who still have their powers not fighting. It's beyond ridiculous. If Adam took his ass out and fought with a fucked up morpher in In Space, then damnit, Jay Jay and Casey can use their perfectly functional powers and battle.

OH! One more thing. I completely forgot about this while I was writing. Freaking Troy. Alright, so the rangers struggled a bit in their first battle with the MoTD because he managed to take away their weapons. After that fight, Troy. Was. Pissed. He kept saying over and over again that a ranger must never let go of his weapon, and he yelled at his team when they told him he was overreacting. In one scene, Noah was trying to research past ranger weapons to find one that would be hard for the monster to take, and Troy snapped at him. "A ranger must never let go of his weapon. So we won't. Now shut your bitch ass up Noah!" OK, Troy didn't say that last part, but with his attitude, he might as well.

Seriously, where the hell did this anger come from? We all know that Troy doesn't even have a personality, so him getting so pissy-wissy over random monster stealing his weapon was so left field. If Troy was in season one, he would have been mad as shit at the rangers for losing their weapons to Pudgy Pig. Damn.

So yeah, it was an average episode. Nothing to praise in my book. Didn't even feel like recording a video review for this. I don't understand how some fans thought that this was the best episode out of the Saban Brands era so far, but whatever. Different opinions.
