Super Megaforce: Spirit of the Tiger Episode Review

I hate Casey. I despise that character and the season he comes from. I wasn't thrilled that his season was one of the few chosen to receive a tribute episode. I wasn't thrilled that Saban Brands decided to bring Casey back to represent Jungle Fury instead of RJ, the actual fan favorite of that season. And I sure as hell wasn't thrilled that Casey had some lengthy screen time in this tribute episode, compared to Jayden last week, who was almost a "blink and you miss it" cameo.

Surprisingly though I didn't hate this episode. It was... so-so. It's a typical, average episode of Power Rangers that I would expect from Saban Brands. An episode that puts in the bare minimum of effort and does nothing really special. Well OK, maybe to some fans bringing Casey back is special. Fine... but that's not special to me though since I, you know, hate the character. *Shrugs*

The episode had the Megaforce rangers visiting a local zoo and looking at all the different animals held in captivity. At one point, the rangers made their way to the tiger den, and they saw a guy cleaning in there while standing near a tiger. The rangers were amazed that the guy would have the balls to clean so close to a tiger. Now while I agree that it does take some courage to stand anywhere near a freaking tiger, Noah took it too far with one of his comments. He said something similar to, "It's like he and the tiger are connected." Umm, that tiger was lying down minding his damn business. He didn't even pay attention to the skinny white dude moving dirty around in his den. How did they look like they were connected? Ugh, but that's nitpicking, so I'll move on. But hey, the guy cleaning the den was Casey! LOL TIGER BOY!!111!!

Later in the episode, Jake ends up walking with Emma in the park. Naturally they talk about Gia, and Jake tries to probe Emma for information. OK, here's the thing. I am sick to DEATH of scenes like this. I am tired of the writers bringing up Jake's crush and then doing NOTHING with it. It's been over a year now, and Jake has made zero progress with Gia. Why the hell hasn't he asked her out yet? This is TV. Something should have happened or progressed with this "relationship" by now.

Jake asked Emma if he really had a shot with Gia or not. He felt that since Emma is her best friend, she might have some insight on how Gia feels about him. Now if Emma actually had revealed some new information in this scene, then maybe I would have liked it. For instances, if Emma had said something like, "I think Gia does like you. She just has a hard time showing her true feelings to people. You're a good guy, just take a chance and ask her out", then I might be praising this scene like a bunch of PR fans are. But she didn't say shit to Jake. Jake asked her the question and she ignored it. She ignored it because she saw freaking Casey in the park and ran to speak with him. Ugh!

So Emma and no-pussy-getting Jake spoke with Casey for a bit, found out that he's a martial artist, thought that was cool, and then ran off to deal with a monster attack. After the Monster of the Day rendered the rangers' weapons useless, Emma and Jake decided that they should have Casey train them to be better fighters with their hands so that they don't have to depend on their weapons.

Casey agrees to train them, which then leads to him bringing up one of the few concepts from Jungle Fury I liked: the idea that everyone has an animal spirit inside of them. Casey also tells Jake that his spirit is the snake and tells Emma that hers is the phoenix. I loved that. He even had the two rangers sparring each other in the Snake and "Phoenix" techniques. Fucking awesome. And to those few PR fans that disliked that Emma's spirit animal was a phoenix because those animals don't exist... the fuck is wrong with you? This is Power Rangers. If dragons exist in this world, a phoenix can too. Plus, as any Jungle Fury fan will tell you, there was a fighter in that season that had the Phoenix spirit.

The end result of the two minute training that Emma and Jake endured was that they defeated the MoTD and unlocked the Jungle Fury Zords (I think that makes 1 trillion zords in their arsenal now). The five rangers went back to the zoo to thank Casey, but he was gone. And one of the workers there told the teens that no one named Casey worked there. OK, what? This is ridiculous. First Jayden disappearing like Batman on the rangers last week, and now this. Why so mysterious? This is unnecessary. And Casey knew the whole time he was training Jake and Emma that they were rangers, and he waited until the last possible second to tell them he knew... for no reason. Again I ask, why so mysterious? Why the secrecy? You are all rangers, stop playing stupid games.

And another question: why didn't Casey help fight? I've never heard of rangers who still have their powers not fighting. It's beyond ridiculous. If Adam took his ass out and fought with a fucked up morpher in In Space, then damnit, Jay Jay and Casey can use their perfectly functional powers and battle.

OH! One more thing. I completely forgot about this while I was writing. Freaking Troy. Alright, so the rangers struggled a bit in their first battle with the MoTD because he managed to take away their weapons. After that fight, Troy. Was. Pissed. He kept saying over and over again that a ranger must never let go of his weapon, and he yelled at his team when they told him he was overreacting. In one scene, Noah was trying to research past ranger weapons to find one that would be hard for the monster to take, and Troy snapped at him. "A ranger must never let go of his weapon. So we won't. Now shut your bitch ass up Noah!" OK, Troy didn't say that last part, but with his attitude, he might as well.

Seriously, where the hell did this anger come from? We all know that Troy doesn't even have a personality, so him getting so pissy-wissy over random monster stealing his weapon was so left field. If Troy was in season one, he would have been mad as shit at the rangers for losing their weapons to Pudgy Pig. Damn.

So yeah, it was an average episode. Nothing to praise in my book. Didn't even feel like recording a video review for this. I don't understand how some fans thought that this was the best episode out of the Saban Brands era so far, but whatever. Different opinions. So if anyone reads this longwinded review, let me know what you thought of the Jungle Fury tribute episode of Super Megaforce.

Random Thought: Power Rangers Super Megaforce Earth Fights Back

A few days ago I had a random thought about the second episode of Power Rangers Super Megaforce. It's not worth making a video over, but I didn't feel like doing multiple 140 character tweets on it either, so I decided to put it on my blog. I need to update this thing anyway.

So this was the episode where the Mega Rangers defeated the Monster of the Day with the Legendary SPD powers. While I was re-watching that fight online (a fan-edited version with the SPD theme song added in), I started thinking about how cool it would have been if the rangers had pulled out the SPD morpher and did the "Judgment Mode" thing on the monster before delivering the final blow. Troy could have said something like, "you are charged with trying to cause mass destruction, judgment!" Then the morpher would flash that giant red X on the monster to show that it is indeed guilty of such evil. After that, the monster would ask, "Are you going to arrest me now?" Then the rangers would respond with, "Nah, we're just going to destroy you. Delta Max, load! Fire!"

How messed up and hilarious would that have been? Yes? No? Well I laughed for a solid minute over the thought of it. If I'm laughing alone, that's cool. Just a random thought.

Bad boys, bad boys. What you gonna do? What you gonna do when they come for you?

These "Rules" People Have About Sex

So I was watching a video by Spoken Reasons where he talked about some chick that liked him and was desperate for the D. He said that they had eventually hooked up, but afterwards he had lost interest in her because she swallowed his babies...

Now at first I was thinking that he was disgusted by this because, in a world where STDs are running rampant, gulping down the sexual fluids of someone that you barely know is dangerous. But no. He was disgusted by it because he feels that a woman shouldn't swallow a man's cum until they have known each other for two years. Because apparently if a woman doesn't abide by this two year waiting period, she will not be respected by her mate.

Sigh... some men out here are just ignorant. Who the hell makes up these stupid rules? Men can't respect a woman who decided to be extra freaky in the bedroom before waiting a couple years? What lame ass men are these? Men should respect women if they have a great personality and treat their family and friends with love and generosity and just try to be a good person in general. Respect should not come from whether or not they decided to taste some protein before they were two years closer to death.

Really this is just the male ego at work. I know I can be jealous from time to time, but some dudes out here take the cake. "If she swallowed for me that soon, how many other men have she swallowed for?" Who cares?! What happened with previous sexual partners is none of your business. As long as she practices safe sex, and regularly gets STD tested (something ALL sexually active people should be doing), don't worry about it.

Society annoys the hell out of me with all the rules and double standards it has for women when it comes to sex. It annoys me even more that there are many women who co-sign the double standards. In 2014. I've seen so many popular male YouTubers who talk about the numerous women they've slept with, but then turn around and say shit like, "you gotta watch out for how many men your girl says she's slept with. If she says 3, multiply that by 5." Again, who cares?! Why does it matter how many she's slept with? As long as a person, guy or girl, is STD free and isn't cheating on their spouse, the number of previous sexual partners shouldn't really matter.

I find Spoken Reasons funny sometimes, but this isn't one of those times. Sex is an amazing thing. Can we stop shaming women out of enjoying it however they like?

So Kabuto WASN'T a Badass?

The Naruto Shippuden anime is currently doing the Kabuto vs Uchiha Brothers fight. Now I barely paid attention to this fight in the manga, so a lot of what I'm seeing in it is new to me. So when it was revealed that the reason Kabuto had turned himself into an even bigger freak than Orochimaru was because he felt that he had no talent, I was very shocked.

Kabuto has no talent? Really? Let's take a trip down memory lane, shall we. I remember when I was younger and was watching the original Naruto series. Back then, there weren't 8048302 badass Jounin-level characters like there are now. At that point, the baddest ninja in the show was pretty much Kakashi. So when Kabuto showed up on the scene, and killed multiple ANBU members in 2 seconds and actually proved to be a challenge to Kakashi, I was hyped. Anyone who can throw Kakashi off his game isn't someone to be taken lightly.

Then later on in the show, Kabuto fought one of the legendary Sannin and did very well against her. And I'm a Tsunade fanboy; I'm not a part of the "she's a weak bitch" crowd, so I view Kabuto holding up against her as an incredible feat. Also, during that fight, Tsunade commented on how great Kabuto's medical skills were and that she was "never that quick or precise, even in her prime". The guy weakened her super strength, and when Tsunade temporarily fucked up his brain synapses so that his muscle controls were all scrambled, Kabuto, in the span of a minute, learned all the new ways his body moved so that he could keep fighting. In. A. Minute.

So Kabuto could have went toe to toe with Kakashi if he had to, and he held his own against a SANNIN, but he has no talent. WTF. And he handled Yamato (an experienced Jounin), Naruto, and Sakura at the same time in the early Shippuden episodes. But he has no talent. Come on now.

You know, maybe this shows how crazy and broken Kabuto really is. Putting Kabuto's tragic backstory into perspective, the fact that he couldn't see how skilled he was, and he felt that he had to steal the abilities from other people to be great is really sad. Embrace your own identity sir. You are Kabuto Yakushi, a skilled shinobi and Orochimaru's bitch boy. Own that shit.

Does the Good Outweigh the Bad?

I never like admitting my flaws, but we all have them. Nobody's perfect. Missy Elliot told me that.

So one of my negative traits is that I have a tendency to complain a lot. Now I do believe that talking about what troubles you is healthy and all, but I tend to harp on the same shit over and over again. I'm currently doing this right now with an issue I'm having, so I decided to write this post.

Don't worry folks, I'm not about to bitch about my issues. Actually, this post is to remind myself of how blessed I am. I really forget this sometimes and I shouldn't. So instead of constantly focusing on the negative, I'm going to take a moment to focus on some of the positives in my life. I'm so fortunate to have the loving family that I do, and the few good friends that I do. I'm fortunate to have a job in this economy, and I'm fortunate to have a roof over my head and food to eat. I'm fortunate to have a love life that's slowly getting back on track. And I'm fortunate that I have an audience on YouTube. I really love vlogging (hell I wish it was my real job), and I'm so glad that there are people who enjoy watching my videos. Now I may be a small YouTuber, but whenever I see comments from people saying that they don't ever want me to stop vlogging, I feel so grateful. It really is the most humbling shit ever.

So while I am still feeling down about my current predicament, I really need to remember all the good things I still have in my life. Seriously, my life could be so much worse.

Things Are Looking Up

Back in July, I wrote my first blog post. It was about me being crazy depressed about graduating college and not being able to find a job. It was really difficult for me to write, and I still can't believe I made it public. Well I'm happy to report that my prayers have finally, FINALLY been answered. *Does the Happy Fish Dance*

It's like my mom says: He may not come when you want Him, but He'll be there right on time. I could have used Him a little sooner when my bank account was happier, but I am not about to look a gift horse in the mouth. Especially right now. I tell you, so much stress has been lifted off of my shoulders.

My job is in the legal field, and I have dreamed for the longest time of having a career in government. I am super excited for this job; I just hope that I don't do anything to screw it up... But considering how long it took me to catch a break, I am NOT about to mess up now. Believe it!

P.S. I just wanted to say thank you to my family and my friends who knew about the stress I was going through and prayed and cheered me on every step of the way.

Being Open, Being Real, Being Me

For Power Rangers' 20th birthday, I made a video celebrating it. And in said video, I stated that, "I am not ashamed to be a Power Rangers fan".

Well thinking about it now, I wonder how true that is. Don't get me wrong, I love the show, and I have been making YouTube videos discussing various aspects of it for two years now. These videos are public and on the internet, so clearly there is a part of me that doesn't give a fuck who knows.

However... if I truly didn't care who knows, why is it that I don't tell too many people in my real life that I like PR? I can count on my fingers the number of friends and family that are aware of my love of PR, my YouTube channel, my Twitter, my Instagram, and my Blog. Why is that? Am I that worried about how they will react? Eh, maybe. I think I'd feel weird knowing that they are watching me and seeing just how geeky I can really be. And you know I can be really geeky. Plus I don't want them saying my real name on my channel. That's something I want to keep private.

But the older I get, the less fucks I have to give about many things. If I want to make real and strong friendships, then I need to start being more open with people. Yes, I like geeky things. I like PR. I like anime. I know way too much about both PR and Naruto. Deal with it!

Believe it or not, I am a private person by nature, so I'm not opening up about everything in my life. Only a chosen few ever get that close to me, and I pretty much have those positions filled (Sup guys). However, I can tell people I like PR. I can tell people I vlog about the show on YouTube. Who cares? If they do, then I shouldn't be fucking with them anyway.
